FLORENCE MARKERT
The history of Florence Markert can be divided into three stages:
Mrs Florence Markert’s initial foray into watch design was driven by her aspiration to establish her own brand. However, due to the context and constraints of the era, she was unable to complete her project. As a child, her grandson Mr Armand Jost, heard her dream of one day being able to put a living plant in her watch. A project which was technically impossible at the time.
To achieve this, he assembled a team of biologists, designers, watchmakers, academics, and sculptors, who collaborated to create these unique timepieces. Simultaneously, to meet the challenge of sustaining a plant in such a confined space, specialised laboratories and scientists conducted in-depth studies to identify the species best suited to these extreme conditions. This research led to the selection of plants capable of thriving in restricted environments, resulting in a timepiece where nature and watchmaking come together.
Florence Markert unveils its first timepieces to the public: a world first. For the very first time, the living world and the art of watchmaking come together in a unique concept, realising Florence Markert’s dream almost a century after its inception.
Creating unique watches that invite discovery and the protection of nature, fostering a genuine connection with living things.
Fusing craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability to create timepieces that connect people with nature.
We are committed to respecting the environment by favouring sustainable and recyclable resources. To intensify our action, we support sustainable projects on an international scale through our foundation.
We honour traditional Swiss watchmaking expertise, where meticulous attention to detail transforms each timepiece into a celebration of excellence in craftsmanship. Our constant quest for innovation focuses not only on the timepiece itself, but also on the development of new plants.
The integration of a living plant is intended to create a profound connection between humans and nature. Each watch encourages reflection on nature’s beauty and its essential role in daily life, inspiring greater awareness of the importance of environmental preservation.
